Installing TEST NG Smart Client
Manual Setup of a CARE installation reading from TEST database
- to allow individual Windows users access to the TEST database as directed by DUK staff.
- Technicians will copy and setup a manual installation of the CRM application pre-configured to read from TEST CRM Database
- Should the CRM application be updated, DUK IT will repack the .zip file and DUK staff will ask for this manual install to be performed ad-hoc
- Current windows user must be setup in CARE TEST system – preconfigured by DUK IT team
- access to DUK VPN
- does NOT require admin access
- Logon to DUK VPN to get access to Network Shares ie, \\gs1dukfilv01\
- Logon as designated user (currentuser) onto designated Machine, as directed by requestor
- (Fig 0) use File Explorer and copy \\gs1dukfilv01\shared$\CIS_Support\Development_Tasks into the address bar to navigate to the folder. The content of folder will display, Locate file "NG Smart Client_TEST.zip" . Right-click > copy
- Copy zip to Local PC
- \\gs1dukfilv01\shared$\CIS_Support\Development_Tasks\NG Smart Client_TEST.zip
- To currentuser\Documents
- (Fig 1) Extract zip (it’s not encrypted) in currentuser\Documents. NOT the OneDrive ‘Documents’, but the standard Documents folder
- Full path of extracted folder is currentuser\Documents\NG Smart Client_TEST
- (Fig 2 )Navigate into extracted folder and right-click “CDBNET.exe” > Create Shortcut
- (Fig 3) Rename the Shortcut to “CARE TEST”
- (Fig 4) Right-click the Shortcut > Pin to Taskbar
- Start application from taskbar, await initialisation
- (Fig 5) Application is ready – the Title bar of application reads: “xxx TEST xxxx” . Done
